The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine called conditions under which the country held elections to the state Duma in the premises of Russian embassies. The main condition for this, according to the report on the website of the foreign Ministry, is the rejection of elections in the Crimea.

Kiev, we recall, considers Crimea occupied territory. The foreign Ministry recalled that the Russian side has already expressed a strong protest about Moscow’s intentions to hold elections in the Peninsula. “In the same context we noted that the holding of such elections in the premises of diplomatic and consular missions of Russia is impossible”, – said the Agency.

The second condition for the conduct of the Russian elections in Ukraine is an exception from the Federal lists of candidates nominated by the Russian political parties included in the regional groups which cover the occupied by Russia territory of Ukraine”.

Earlier, the foreign Ministry of Ukraine stated about impossibility of voting in the premises of diplomatic and consular services of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine in the elections to the state Duma of Russia.

Director of policy and communications Ministry of Ukraine Alexei Makeyev said that Moscow violated international law in connection with the conduct of elections in the territories, control of which has lost Kiev, to the Crimea and Sevastopol. The diplomat expressed “resolute protest” in connection with plans to hold voting in the elections to the state Duma.

He noted that such actions are a violation of Russia’s international obligations. “In this regard, the Russian elections in the premises of diplomatic and consular services of the Russian Federation is impossible,” he said.

According to him, under the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, the Russian diplomatic missions must respect the laws of the state of stay and not to use its premises for purposes incompatible with the functions of the mission stipulated by the legislation and multilateral and bilateral international treaties to which the Russian Federation is.

On Saturday morning the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also ordered to inform the Russian leadership about the impossibility of organizing elections on September 18 the state Duma on the territory of Ukraine. The CEC head, Ella Pamfilova, in turn, stated the need to discuss the issue with the foreign Ministry, “We will discuss this issue with the foreign Ministry, while I can’t say anything”.
