Manager Leandra Cohen Robert Corey told reporters about the circumstances of the death of the canadian poet and musician. Reportedly, the 82-year-old author of the Hallelujah died in her sleep.

“Leonard Cohen died in his sleep after falling in the middle of the night on 7 November. His death was sudden, unexpected and peaceful,” the statement quoted The Huffington Post.

The funeral of the singer took place last Thursday, 10 November, in Montreal, in the presence of immediate relatives and friends of the priest. His son Adam said that his funeral was exactly as asked for Leonard: he was lowered into the ground in a pine coffin without any ornaments near father and mother.

“I am writing this, remembering the unique combination of his modesty and dignity, his elegance, charisma without audacity, his ability to be a gentleman from the old times,” wrote Adam Cohen in Facebook.

“There are so many things I would like to thank him one last time. I thank him for the ease in communication, for the wisdom he has shown in the long debate, for his dazzling wit and humor. And I would have thanked him for the music. First, for the music that he inspired me in childhood, and then for his support of my own music and finally, for the privilege to compose music with him. Thank you for your kind words, your compassion and love for my father” – appealed to fans of Leonard Cohen the musician’s son.
