Skater Yulia Lipnitskaya will not perform at the championship of Russia in Chelyabinsk due to injury. As reported by the Federation of figure skating of Russia (FSFR), Olympic champion 2014 in team competitions suffered an injury of the hip and lower back on Sunday, when he returned from a workout and slipped on the sidewalk.
The athletes diagnosed with a bruised right hip and post-traumatic arthritis of the sacroiliac joint, atonal “R-Sport”. The nature of the injury precludes Lipnitskaya in the championship of Russia, as the minimum treatment period is 14-17 days. Soon after coming back to Moscow before the New year will undergo treatment.
Lipnitskaya due to injury in October withdrew from the Grand Prix in the USA and on the Moscow stage in early November was forced to interrupt any program for a few minutes due to problems with his leg and eventually took the 12th and last place.
The championship of Russia which will take place from 22 to 24 December in Chelyabinsk, is a qualifying competition for the European championship. The continental championship will be held in the Czech Ostrava from 25 to 28 January.
