Based on one of the most famous songs of the king of rock-n-roll Elvis Presley published a children’s book. On the shelves of bookstores, it will appear on 13 November.
The idea belongs to the American publisher Dial Books for Young Readers. The book is called Love Me Tender, illustrate it created Stephanie Grogin, and features a Foreword by Elvis’s widow Priscilla Presley, according to Intermedia.
In his article, Priscilla called the book “a heartfelt ode to the love between children and adults who love and care about them – whether parents, grandparents or guardians”. She dedicated the book to his grandchildren, twins Harper and Finley, who were brought up during the divorce of their parents, Lisa Maria Presley and Michael Lockwood.
“Children know a lot about his grandfather: how he was famous, his songs, movies. If you hear his voice on the radio, always will. I think the owner will like them. The name familiar, the story is good and the happy ending – what more do you need?” she says.
The song Love Me Tender was written in 1956 on the basis of a ballad of the civil war. Performed by Elvis Presley the song is included in the list of the 500 greatest songs according to the Rolling Stone. Elvis sang it in his debut movie. A month before the premiere of the song was performed on the ed Sullivan show. The next day, the company-publisher of the RCA received about one million pre-orders for the album with this song. This forced twentieth Century Fox to rename the picture with the working title “the Reno Brothers” to “Love me tender”.
Subsequently, Love Me Tender sang by many other singers and musical groups, including Frank Sinatra, Hugh Laurie, Muslim Magomayev and The Beatles.
