MAC announced the first results of investigation of accident of helicopter Mi-8 on Yamal with contractors of Rosneft
The interstate aviation Committee (IAC) announced the preliminary results of investigation of wreck of helicopter Mi-8 in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district (YANAO). Experts have established that shortly before the crash, the helicopter gave a signal minimum fuel remainder. The reason that the Board was not able to refuel have bad weather.
“1 hour 21 minutes after takeoff was the appearance of alarm “Minimum fuel”. Even after 4 minutes were significantly reduced height and speed of flight. Over the next 14 minutes, the flight was repeated with intense changes in elevation, speed and course,” said MACK.
The Committee noted that the collision of the helicopter with the earth occurred at 15:08 Moscow time, the engines worked until the end of the flight. Analysis of the registered information continues, said MACK.
Currently at the scene are continuing work on the collection and preparation to evacuate the surviving fragments of the aircraft. After the evacuation of the helicopter engineering-technical sub-Commission will proceed to analyze its condition and damage.
The sub-Commission and working groups analyze the level of training of the crew, compliance of the technical maintenance of aircraft equipment, weather conditions, and the procedure of organization and executing emergency flight, added to the MAC.
Helicopter Mi-8 of airline “Skol” transporting employees ofa contractor of “Rosneft” on the route suzunskoe field at Novy Urengoy, on the evening of 21 October made a hard landing 80 km North-West of the settlement of Urengoy, Purovsky district of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district. On Board were 22 people, 19 of them, including three crew members, died. Three victims were hospitalized, their life is not in danger.
Currently on the fact of wreck of the investigation of the criminal case under part 3 St. 263 criminal code of Russian Federation (“Infringement of safety rules of movement and operation of air transport, entailed on imprudence death of two and more persons”). The consequence considers three main versions of the accident: violation of operating rules and safety, equipment failure, adverse weather conditions.
