Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova acquired a stake in the ultimate fighting championship (UFC), the organization that holds tournaments on the mixed single combats. UFC for four billion dollars bought media consortium WME-IMG, which Sharapova works for many years.
The news that the deal to sell the UFC became a celebrity, in the night from Thursday to Friday broadcast his evening show on channel TBS said presenter Conan O’brien.
“Investment company WME has informed its customers about the possibility to buy a small part of the rights to the UFC. I agreed and now technically own a small piece of the UFC. I became part of a group of investors, which includes Ben Affleck, Tom Brady, mark Wahlberg, Adam Levine, Cam Newton, LL Cool J, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Sylvester Stallone… I have named only some,” reported O’brien.
This is not the first business investment for the Russian tennis player. In 2012, Sharapova was presented to the audience candy brand Sugarpova, and later became co-owner of cosmetics company the Supergroup.
Recall that the international tennis Federation (ITF) in June Mary was disqualified for two years for use of a prohibited drug Meldonium.
