Minister of education and science announced that the exam on the history will become mandatory from 2020
Minister of education and science Olga Vasilyeva said that in 2020 the Unified state exam in history will be compulsory, along with mathematics and Russian language. She said this at a lecture in the course “Army and society” at the Military Academy of the General staff of the Russian Armed forces, reports “Interfax”.
“In 2020 the entire country will take the history. Because without knowledge of history we cannot move forward,” said the Minister.
Exam Vasilyeva called “operation”: “This operation is called “operation”, because there should be transparency in the conduct of exam,” Vasilyev was quoted by TASS.
She praised the work of the service which it provides. The exams, she said, are open and honest, and they will be held in 2017.
Since the lecture was held at the Military Academy, Vasilyeva had to answer the question of initial military training in schools. “To introduce as a compulsory subject is unlikely,” – said Vasiliev, but added that the youths must get acquainted with this subject overtime, and not in separate classes. In her opinion, these courses “provide the skills that can be useful in life.” “As for the female half of the class – I’m not really ready to answer,” – said Vasilyev.
Earlier in the Ministry of education said that considering the exam on the history in the list of mandatory exams. 20 Feb 2017 Vasilyev said: “Here am I, as a historian primarily, is convinced that he (history exam) should be mandatory” because it can’t “person who has been through 11 years of training, do not know their history.”
Vasiliev also expressed their support for the introduction of a foreign language exam, which all students will take the 2022. Now as compulsory subjects students pass only Russian language and mathematics.
On the reform of the unified state examination, the Minister began to speak immediately after the appointment in August 2016.
In October 2016 Vasiliev called the common objective of reforming the exam, getting rid of tests that, in her opinion, “will overshadow the practice of “cramming”, “when on turning a blind eye, if only to pass the same exam that are selected.”
In November 2016 Vasiliev on the Second all-Russian Congress of geography teachers supported the initiative to introduce a compulsory exam for this subject.
In 2017, the exam in Russian will pass in two stages: from March 23 to April 14, will be held early stage, and from 29 may to 1 – July- main. Both stages of the exam will begin with examinations in geography, computer science and information and communication technologies.
In General, the unified state exam in 2017 will take the 747 thousand people. In the early wave involved 44 thousand people, mostly graduates of previous years. In the main period of 703 thousand, 618 thousand of them – graduates of the current year, reported earlier the head of Rosobrnadzor Sergey Kravtsov.
