Ministry of defence put forward UN a condition for the resumption of the humanitarian pause in Aleppo
Russian defense Ministry is ready to consider the possibility of introducing a new humanitarian pause in Aleppo at any time as soon as the representatives of the UN humanitarian mission in Syria officially confirm their willingness and ability to deliver to the city of humanitarian assistance and the evacuation of residents, said Saturday the official representative of the defense Ministry major-General Igor Konashenkov. Now the delivery of humanitarian aid hinder the fire fighters.
“The main condition for introduction of the next “humanitarian pause” in Aleppo must be a willingness of the UN humanitarian mission in Syria to arrange delivery in the Eastern quarters of humanitarian aid and the evacuation from there of the wounded and sick, – Konashenkov was quoted by “Interfax”. The experience of the humanitarian pause showed that all the assurances of representatives of the United Nations about the presence of “provisional” agreements with the militants in the Aleppo – just words”.
According to the defense Ministry, “all attempts to transport any supplies humanitarian aid to the residents of Aleppo to even come close to humanitarian corridors every time end with attacks by militants and the impossibility of travel due to mining their roads and streets.”
The Eastern part of the Syrian city of Aleppo, which before the war was the most populous in the country controlled by the terrorist group. The Syrian army is on the offensive trying to take control of this part of the city. From 20 to 22 October in Aleppo acted humanitarian pause. On 23 October, Syrian government forces resumed the offensive South of the city, failing to establish control over the important heights and objects. Latest humanitarian pause was in effect for 10 hours in Aleppo on November 4.
Moscow formally continued to observe the ceasefire. The General staff of the armed forces 28 October addressed to the President and Supreme commander Vladimir Putin with a request to renew air strikes against militants in Eastern Aleppo, noting that the Syrian opposition, taking advantage of the lull, went on the offensive. However, Putin decided the resumption of air strikes impractical.
