The Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova at the meeting with students of PFUR expressed the view that to understand the necessity of baby-boxes or their damage takes time.

“I believe that anything is possible that could save the life of a child. If this works, then you need to give this practice to accumulate in order then to make any conclusions”, – quotes RIA of “news” Moskalkova response to a question from the participants.

The Ombudsman added that, in her view, “life” may not induce the abandonment of the child. On the contrary, reports her words “Rain”, the ban on baby-boxes can lead to an increase in the number of cases of ill-treatment of children.

Recall the first devices for the anonymous transfer of physicians of newborns appeared in Russia in 2011. Now in 11 regions of the Russian Federation established 20 baby-boxes in 16 subjects of negotiations regarding their installation.

With the proposal to introduce a ban on “life” was made by Senator Elena Mizulina. At the end of September this year, she hastened to informthat the government has approved its bill, but then it turned outthat it is not. It also became known that more than 260 thousand people have signed a petition on the portal Change.org against the legal prohibition of the baby boxes.

Mizulina, the bill sparked heated debate in the society and negative opinion of the government, which called for significant revision of this document. However, Mizulina refused to amend his bill. The Senator said that he sees no reason to modify it before the first reading in the state Duma, “it is logical to make amendments to the second reading”.
