The majority of Russians heard about the arrest of the now former Deputy chief of management “T” of the main Directorate of economic security and counteraction of corruption (Guebipk) Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zakharchenko and consider valid the accusations against him, but nevertheless tend to think that other major anti-corruption cases in recent time is more indicative of the stock, rather than the systemic struggle of the authorities with bribery, the sociologists of the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM) in the survey population.

About the arrest of Zakharchenko was aware 77% of study participants. The vast majority of respondents expressed confidence that found at Zakharchenko billions have been amassed by unfair: 59% assumed that he stole them or received through bribes or kickbacks, 13% saw a “shadow business” or “someone’s common Fund”, 4% – fraud with the banks and the 1% – money from foreign banks or payment by Western intelligence agencies.

Only 4% of respondents admitted that Zakharchenko has earned or accumulated the money, and 1% won. 1% of respondents suggested that Zaharchenko “framed, it is not his money.”

In this case, Zakharchenko perceived by the public consciousness more as one example of a fairly widespread problem of corruption among the employees of the Russian police: 63% of respondents believe that corruption and bribery among the police mass phenomenon isolated cases – 30%.

Among the sensational corruption cases in recent years the arrest and prosecution Zakharchenko called the largest number of respondents – 21%. In second place was ex-employee of the Ministry of defense Yevgenia Vasilyeva (12%), the third – the former head of the military Department Anatoly Serdyukov (11%). Colonel Zakharchenko was arrested September 10, he is accused of receiving a bribe, abuse of power and obstruction of preliminary investigation (article 290, 285 and 294 of the criminal code). He statedthat he considers his work “registered,” and claimed to know “who this is”, without naming, however, no names: “All these accusations were fabricated against me to frame me, to shift from the position. Zakharchenko charged with taking bribes from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Rusinzhiniring” Anatoly Prigornitskayathat Zakharchenko himself has called his friend.

As reported by investigation, in the course of searches in the apartment of the sister Zakharchenko in an elite residential complex “dominion” on Lomonosovsky Prospekt, law enforcement authorities found 120 million dollars and two million euros. Zakharchenko denies that money.

In a press there were several versions of the origin of the money. The first is about the relationship Zakharchenko with the flight from Russia of the former head of “Beeline” Mikhail Slobodin. Second – it supposedly can be a part of the money stolen from “the Note-Bank”. According to the third, wise was detained in the high-profile case on corruption ties of the generals of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the crime boss Zakhary Kalashov (Shakro Young).
