Student Alexandra Ivanova (Varvara Karaulov), accused of trying to join terrorist group “Islamic state” (ISIS, DAISH, is prohibited in Russia) to Syria because of love to the recruiter, who was dismissed from the philosophy faculty of Moscow state University (MGU) named after Lomonosov. It is reported by RIA “Novosti” with reference to the press service of the Moscow state University.

“In September 2016 at the philosophical faculty of Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov with a written statement addressed Ivanova Alexandra Pavlovna (formerly Karaulova Varvara Pavlovna) with a request to deduct it from the number of students of the faculty of philosophy on their own. A statement of the student was reviewed and positively granted,” said MSU TASS.

“By order dated October 10, 2016 Ivanov, Alexander p. (Karaulov Varvara Pavlovna) expelled from the students of the philosophical faculty of Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov on their own,” – said “Interfax” on Friday in a press-service of the University.

Earlier it became known that Karaulova took a sabbatical at the University.

Varvara Karaulov went missing on may 27, 2015 after being a second-year student of the faculty of philosophy of Moscow state University, went to University, but did not come to class. Later it turned out that she secretly from the parents bought the ticket and flew from Moscow to Istanbul.

The girl was detained with a group of Russians, allegedly attempting to enter Syria. Fugitive returned home on June 12 and her recruiter later arrested.

On arrival home Karaulov was questioned and released without charges. However, in October last year, the girl was arrested after intelligence agencies found that she continues to communicate with the recruiter from the IG and supposedly has plans to re-escape to Syria.

November 10, Karaulova was charged with attempted participation in a terrorist organization. First, during the interrogation, she admitted guilt, but later, in February 2016, the lawyer said that the accused has refused grateful indications.

The trial of the Service began on 5 October. In late August, it was reported that to it threatens till 10 years of imprisonment.

After the story Karaulova at MSU was informed that will take measures to prevent such incidents. In particular, he announced the introduction in high school of additional course on the prevention of religious extremism, which was planned to focus on the psychological and religious security.
