Muslims picked a place for the construction of a new mosque in Moscow and waiting for the response from the authorities
Representatives of the Muslim clergy has asked the city authorities to allocate land to the territory of New Moscow for the construction of a cultural and educational center with a mosque with a capacity of up to thousands of people.
“Today we put the question to the Moscow authorities, including the religious organization of the Spiritual administration of Muslims of Moscow and Central region “Moscow Muftiyat”, the allocation of the land plot, – told RIA “news” the mufti of Moscow and the head of the Spiritual Assembly of Russian Muslims Albir Krganov. “There is accepted the decision on construction of objects of other traditional religions of Russia, and that the Muslims are waiting for the decision. I hope it will be positive,” – said Krganov, who also is Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation on harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations.
He noted that the Muftiate already have preliminary agreements with the “very respected Russian companies” that are “ready to fully Finance the construction of this complex”, but no names called did not.

Several years ago, the mosque wanted to build on Volzhsky Boulevard , in the Tekstilshchiki district, however, these plans angered local residents. The initiative group has not organized a protest demanding the transfer of the building and also collected signatures under the appeal to the President of Russia. In the end, the city authorities “closed” the subject.
