“We are pleased that people are aware of the inevitability of punishment for those who violate the law. Unscrupulous bankers get punished and go to jail, and it is very important to avoid such crimes in future,” she said.

Since June 2013, when Nabiullina headed the Bank of Russia, until mid-October of this year, the regulator has revoked the licenses of more than 284 banks, of which in 2016 – from 74 banks, the statistics of the Central Bank, referred to by journalists.

The reason for the recall, in particular, were violations of banking legislation, participation in money laundering, concealing the accumulated problems by means of false statements.

“The banking system is fully returned to profitability. She is now at the same level as before the crisis, which began in late 2014. And we have achieved it, not turning a blind eye to certain problems; we are tightening supervision”, – said Nabiullina.

In September, the media wrotethat the Central Bank from 1 January 2017, will start sending out to banks and non-Bank financial institutions (including insurers, pension funds, microfinance organizations, pawnshops and participants of the securities market) customer data, which was seen in attempts to conduct suspicious transactions.

In the spring the Chairman of Bank of Russia Dmitry Skobelkin statedthat on the Russian banking market continue to operate a credit organization that conduct questionable transactions and do not react to signals of the Central Bank.

“The banking sector reduced the number of banks with signs of involvement in questionable transactions. However, in the market there are banks who do not respond to our signals and continue conducting dubious operations,” said Skobelkin.

According to him, in the end of 2014, banks with signs of involvement in dubious operations, there were about 30 in the same period of 2015, these organizations have been only nine.
