The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said that he sees no need to rename the country’s capital. According to him, Astana has become a brand of the Republic. Earlier, the Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted the Declaration on the 25th anniversary of the independence of the former Soviet Republic, which, among other things, it was proposed to rename the capital in honor of the first and permanent President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev.

“This brand. So there is no need to change the name no, I do not see”, – explained the head of Kazakhstan in his interview to TV channel “Russia 24″, a fragment of which was published at the press service of the Nazarbayev on the social network Facebook.

He also reminded that in Astana passed the “first in the 21st century, the OSCE summit took Asian winter games, and now will be held the world exhibition “EXPO-2017″, Congress of world and traditional religions”.

“It is connected with Kazakhstan, but everywhere you can hear the name Astana. What is the need to change it?” asked Nazarbayev. The President of Kazakhstan reminded that conversations about the renaming of the capital appeared on the eve of the 25th anniversary of independence.

“It is a wonderful, wonderful celebration of all Kazakh people, the dream of all our ancestors, so as not to enjoy? Rejoice my peers, on whose shoulders had the honor to build such a state, proud of the young people, wherever you come, everybody knows that Astana”, – said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

On the eve of the President of Kazakhstan admitted that he was heartened by the initiative of local deputies to rename Astana after him. “I have said many times on this subject said. It is believed, perhaps, that I give the command to write all Nur, Nurly. And yesterday, the Parliament suggested that, perhaps even the capital to rename my name on it. I these assumptions never shared and never said”, – stressed the head of state.

“Of course, I, as a person, it’s nice. The Parliament is an independent part of government. They have the right to make a decision to speak his mind. Any issue – the renaming of cities, settlements and so forth we will address in a balanced manner, commensurate with what is needed for the state and country,” the President noted.

On November 23 during a meeting of the local Parliament Deputy Kuanish Sultanov said that Nazarbayev belongs the great merit in the creation and development of independent Kazakhstan. “Through thoughtful and effective international initiatives of the head of state the country has achieved high international authority and became a recognized leader in global anti-nuclear movement,” – said the MP.

“You can call the capital Nursultan, Nazarbayev”, – he told reporters on the sidelines of the Parliament. His colleague, bakytgul Kamenova proposed to rename Astana the head of State, and Senator Mikhail Bortnik called for a double name – Astana-Leader.

The name of the present capital of Kazakhstan has already wanted to change in previous years: in 2013, the academician of the National Academy of science Sultan sartaev proposed to rename Astana city President, and four years earlier, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Latif of Gandilov proposed to rename Astana into Sultan-ATA. However, from December 1 this year, the national Bank of Kazakhstan put into circulation new banknotes with a portrait of Nazarbayev.
