President Barack Obama on Friday will hold a meeting of the national security Council (NSC) on the issue of combating grouping “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) and the situation in Syria. According to Reuters, the President will be presented, including military options for intervention in Syria. The meeting will take place against the background of preparations for the next meeting of foreign Ministers of the USA and Russia John Kerry and Sergey Lavrov in Switzerland.

About the closed meeting, the SNB announced on Friday a press-service of the White house. “This afternoon the President will hold a meeting of the SNB for a regular review of the current situation of the campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, as well as to discuss ongoing efforts to reduce violence, increase access for deliveries of humanitarian assistance, and promote the process of political transfer of power in Syria”, – quotes the press release reported.

According to Reuters, several high-ranking officials in Washington insist on more decisive action, considering that otherwise, States will lose any influence on the moderate rebels and their Arab, Kurdish and Turkish allies.

One of the interlocutors of the Agency indicated that among the options it is considering direct military action such as airstrikes on Syrian military bases, ammunition depots, radar stations and air defense systems. The alternative is to allow the allies to supply the rebels, proven, more modern weapons.

The Reuters sources pointed out that Obama may not take any action following the meeting of the NSC.

The Russian defense Ministry earlier in October, was advised to “colleagues in Washington to carefully calculate the possible consequences of” blow at the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, supported by the Kremlin.
