Coaching staff of Russian national team on hockey under the direction of Oleg Znarka has announced the squad for the Karjala Cup, which will be held in Helsinki from 3 to 6 November.

As reported a press-service of Federation of hockey of Russia (FHR), the composition of the team as follows:

Goalies: Ilya Sorokin (CSKA), Igor Shesterkin (SKA), Vasily Demchenko (“Tractor”).

Defenders: Victor Antipin Alexey Beregazzo (both – metallurg Mg), Rushan Rafikov, Ilya Lyubushkin (both “the locomotive”), Bogdan Kiselevich, Igor Ozhiganov (both – CSKA), Andrey Mironov (Dynamo M), Artem Tooth (“Cupid”).

Forwards: Nikita Gusev, Nikolai Prohorchik, Alexander Barabanov (SKA), Anatoly Golyshev (“Avtomobilist”), Andrey Svetlakov, Valeri Nichushkin (both – CSKA), Stepan Sannikov, Sergey Shumakov, Konstantin Okulov (“Siberia”), Vladimir Tkachev (“AK bars”), Vyacheslav Leshchenko (“Spartak”), Pavel Kraskovsky, Yegor Gorshkov (both “the locomotive”).

The average age of players of the Russian team was only 22 and a half years. On the General background of the most experienced players are 26-year-old Bogdan Kiselevich and Stepan Sannikov.

As stated by head coach Oleg Znarok, on the Karjala Cup his staff decided to give the opportunity to show off the young players.

“We have always been young at the Karjala Cup. We called this composition at the First channel Cup. Everything is logical, you have to give them a chance. The guys are young, play well. It is unknown at the Olympics will play representatives from the NHL or not”, – quotes the explanations of the mentor Agency “R-Sport”.

The first match of the Cup Karjala Russian team will play on 3 November with the national team of Finland.
