The monument to outstanding ballerina Maya Plisetskaya will appear in the square that bears her name, decided by the Commission on monumental art at Moscow city Duma.
“The decision on the construction of the sculpture in memory of Maya Plisetskaya in the Park her name” – leads TASS words of the Chairman of the Commission Igor Voskresensky.
“On the question of the monument Plisetskaya we are in direct communication with her husband, Rodion Shchedrin, although it is not in Russia”, – said in comments to”Interfax” the representative of the FSUE “Federal Directorate of the cultural events” Alexey Lebedev. According to him, all costs for the creation and placement of the monument will take over the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation.
The idea of creating a monument to the folk artist was announced less than a year ago, during the opening of the Park named Plisetskaya. About the plans of the city authorities then informed the head of Department of culture of Moscow Alexander Kibovsky. Also, there was a proposal to install a bust near Plisetskaya from the Bolshoi theatre.
When discussing the creation of a monument to Maya Plisetskaya member of the Commission on monumental art Larisa Vasilyeva raised the issue of perpetuating the memory of one of the legendary ballerinas – Galina Ulanova.
“Plisetskaya is a genius in his own right, but I immediately think of Galina Ulanova, which there is nothing in Moscow. She was from Moscow, an honorary citizen. In history she was the first age, Yes. I want you just figured and fixed this bug. She did many things for the residents of the city,” Vasilyev was quoted by the Agency “Moscow”.
Ballerina Maya Plisetskaya died 2 may 2015 in Germany due to a heart attack. She was 89 years old. Plisetskaya danced for almost 60 years, including nearly 50 at the Bolshoi theater, the troupe which she was accepted after graduating from the Moscow choreographic school in 1943. Plisetskaya performed all major roles in classical repertoire and became world famous.
July 31 at Cannes was the presentation of the professional awards name of Maya Plisetskaya Ave Maria, they marked ballerinas who have demonstrated outstanding achievements over the last year. Reportedly, the ballet “Oscar” dedicated to the Russian dancer to be awarded annually.
