Opponents of abortion, including “the Confessor of Putin” decided to collect a million signatures during the marathon
Sunday, October 23, opponents of abortion, including the Abbot of the Sretensky monastery of Moscow, Bishop mark Tikhon (Shevkunov), who is considered the “spiritual father Putin” will start the marathon on the collection of signatures for legal prohibition of abortion, reports “Interfax”.
The marathon will begin with a rally in the center of Moscow, on the Suvorovskaya square. Its organizers, in particular, spoke of the movement “For life,” “Orthodox volunteers”, “forty times Forty”, “Women for life”.
In the campaign, according to the Agency, will take part the state Duma Deputy, famous actors, musicians and writers. Only at a mass event expected to be about two thousand people.
“According to official statistics, in Russia annually occurs more than 700 thousand abortions, the informal statistics of abortions – more than five million a year. We commit this bloody crime is equal to the losses in the Great Patriotic war”, – said the organizers of the marathon.
Explaining how will be a marathon, they said the shares will be attended by a large number of “caring people” of the regions, which after the event on the Suvorovsky area will begin to collect signatures against abortion in their homes.
Currently in many churches of Russia at the initiative of the movement “For life” is collecting signatures under the petition to the legislative prohibition of abortions. At the moment, collected more than 300 thousand signatures. All the initiators of the action plan to collect a million signatures to pass on to the Federal authorities.
Previously signed the petition about a ban of abortions has put the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, which caused debate in society. The Primate was joined by the head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Bishop mark Tikhon (Shevkunov), several state Duma deputies, actors and athletes.
The fight against abortion has resulted in Russia in 2015. Then in January, speaking in the framework of the Christmas parliamentary meetings, the Patriarch urged lawmakers to bring abortion out of the system.
Later a similar bill in the state Duma introduced Elena Mizulina and Sergei Popov. The document caused a lot of discussion. The government, particularly Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, voted against the bill, and the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko called the document an extremist.
