Opposition leader Sergei Mokhnatkin on September 29 was beaten in the detention center, located in the city of Kotlas, Arkhangelsk region. As written in Facebook on 30 September, friend of the opposition leader Tatiana Pashkevich, Mohnatkina before the court “dragged by the arms and thrown into a cage, and the accused was barefoot, and his mouth was bleeding”.
In a note Pashkevich we are talking about the court session on the case of disruption of work of the office of the Federal penitentiary service in Arkhangelsk region (article 321, part 2 of the criminal code), which filed a case against Mokhnatkin in March 2015 when escorting the opposition of IR-4 in SIZO-2 of the city of Kotlas. Mohnatkin then said that he was beaten by prison staff, but in the end the case was brought on himself.
Court on 30 September, according to Pashkevich, also took place without violations. The judge found sufficient the presence of the state lawyer Mokhnatkina and did not allow a public defender of the oppositionist Vladimir Stepanov in the hall, despite the open nature of the process.
Oppositionist Mokhnatkin in 2010 was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison on charges of use of violence against a representative of authorities during the opposition campaign. Two years later he was pardoned. However, two years later – in 2014 – he was again imprisoned on similar charges, appointing 4.5 years of imprisonment. In June 2016 Mohnatkina added to the period for another 11 months, having found him guilty of insulting employee of the Federal penitentiary service.
