In St. Petersburg hosted a rally under the slogan “War – unemployment – November”. The event was organized by the art group “Rodina”, reported on the group page in social networks Facebook and “Vkontakte”.
According to the media, the event was held at the cemetery and the railroad. Activists were photographed with placards “Let’s suffer”, “You can’t change it,” “Pain, emptiness, and patriotism” that “neither liberty Nor equality, nor fraternity,” “All will be bad and will never end” and others.
The participants of the performance described it this way: “Alas-alas, the parade for the patriots. The word – group “Rodina”, the mood of the people.”
“The campaign we came up with may 1, this year, because there was a feeling of a mismatch of emotions the may day demonstration and the General feeling of despondency. And then there is “War – unemployment – November” as the opposite of the slogan “Peace! Work! May!”. We wanted to voice our collective depression. There’s carnivals, when all share their joy. And we needed a negative activist carnival. The message is, I think, is obvious. But this does not negate our love for the Motherland. We just are not patriots, but alas-patriots”, – said the Agency “Rosbalt” organizer Daria Apakhonchich.
According to her, the event was held in November, as opposed to the month calendar of may and November as the weather would complement it. Arranged pickets near the metro station “Avtovo”. “We chose not the center, but sad landscape,” added Daria Apakhonchich. Police did not interfere with the event.
Art-group “Rodina” was formed in St. Petersburg in 2013. “The main areas of work: performative social art, field and experimental studies of patriotism, languages and institutions”, – stated in the description of the community.
