The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill has blessed the Moscow parishes not to give him a birthday may 24, colors, and instead channel the savings into assistance for the people of Syria, reports “Interfax-Religion” with reference to the head of the Patriarchal press service Alexander Volkov priest.

“The funds will be directed to the appropriate trust account of the Synodal Department for Church charity and social service”, – said Volkov.

Gathering support for the affected population of Syria is organized in the framework of the interreligious working group of the Council for cooperation with religious associations under the Russian President. According to Volkov, to join this campaign and make a donation to this account, everyone can.

Earlier Patriarch Kirill suggested that instead of presenting him for the holidays flowers to send funds to the needy. So, at the end of last year, on the eve of its 70th anniversary, the Patriarch asked the abbots of the Moscow parishes instead of buying flowers to send funds to the Central clinical hospital of St. Alexis and the feast of the Nativity donated to the clinic of the medical equipment purchased for the savings. With such a request the Patriarch appealed to the priors on the eve of Easter.

“I propose follows this approach and continue in the holidays, when the Moscow parishes are usually presented flowers to the Patriarch”, – said the Primate in his speech to the diocesan Assembly of Moscow.
