The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree which freed Mikhail Saakashvili from the post of Chairman of the Odessa regional state administration. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian President. In addition, another decree of the politician is released from the position of freelance Advisor to the President of Ukraine.

The Governor of Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili, on 7 November announced his resignation. He explained his decision by the impossibility of combating corruption on the background of the involvement of the first persons of the state.

We will remind, Saakashvili from 2004 to 2013 he was President of Georgia. He then lived in the United States and Ukraine, was engaged in teaching.

In 2014, in Georgia, Saakashvili was charged with the organization of massacre of participants of the peaceful rally on 7 November 2007, the illegal invasion of the building of the TV channel Imedi, misappropriation of property of businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili, the organization of an armed attack on Deputy Valery Gelashvili in 2005 and of embezzling state funds in 2009-2012. Saakashvili has been in absentia arrested.

Head of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili was appointed may 30, 2015. Before that, he received Ukrainian citizenship. December 4, 2015 the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili signed a decree on the termination of Georgian citizenship Saakashvili in connection with the adoption of citizenship of another state.

In October, Georgia held parliamentary elections. The results of the vote of a constitutional majority of the party “Georgian dream”. The former ruling party “United national movement”, founded by Saakashvili, suffered a crushing defeat in the second round without having received any mandate.
