Russian President Vladimir Putin during a press conference in Lima, said that the arrest of the former Minister of economic development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev will not affect the acquisition by Rosneft of state-owned stake of “Bashneft”, and also spoke about the search for the worthy candidate on a post of the new head of Ministry of economic development.
First, responding to journalists ‘ questions, Putin said that he has nothing to say on the “case speaker”. “Well here to comment? This ultimately should comment on the law-enforcement bodies and the judiciary”, the President said (quoted by TASS).
Then the President, however, added that he and members of the government recently discussed candidates for the vacant post. “We are with the Prime Minister just talked about this. We have at least three or four people to have candidates”, – quotes Putin “Interfax”.
Putin also added that Russian authorities “will continue to have zero tolerance for any manifestations of this kind.” “Everyone should know – and our partners, and within the country – we all should understand and know that regardless of the official position of someone else, the law is applied equally to all,” said he.
According to Putin, the actions of law enforcement bodies did not damage the business climate, but instead, only strengthened it. The arrest of the speaker was not affected by the attitude of the President to the government.
As for Rosneft, it is assured that the scandal surrounding the arrest of the speaker will not interfere with the transaction. “With regard to transactions for Bashneft, does this sad event could not affect the transaction on acquisition “Rosneft” “Bashneft”, – said the President.
On 15 November it became known that against Alexei Ulyukayev, then held the post of Minister of economic development, was prosecuted on charges of receiving a bribe in 2 million dollars. According to the investigation, two cases money was handed to him in one of the offices of Rosneft – for the fact that the Agency allegedly facilitated the purchase of shares of “Bashneft”.
The head of the Center for strategic research (CSR) Alexei Kudrin said that the arrest of the speaker is doubtful moments. “Actually, it’s not customary even can’t imagine this, to a Minister with such a powerful man with the authority, as Sechin could behave this way,” said the former head of the Ministry of Finance.
Kudrin also said that “people like the Minister of economic development, take many decisions that are not always comfortable”, and also called a result to greater transparency.
