President Vladimir Putin ordered at the state level to celebrate in 2019 the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary Russian gunsmith Mikhail Kalashnikov.
“Given the outstanding contribution of the Kalashnikov in the development of national small arms and in connection with the executable in 2019 the 100 th anniversary of his birth, agree to adopt the proposals of the government about the celebration in 2019 of the 100th anniversary since the birth of the Kalashnikov,” reads a presidential decree posted on the portal of legal information 4 Oct.
Putin also instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to establish a steering Committee for preparation and holding of the 100th anniversary since the birth of the Kalashnikov and approve its composition. In addition, the President instructed to ensure the development and approval of the plan of main measures on preparing and holding the celebration, and recommended that the Executive bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and local governments participate in the preparation and conduct of these activities.
Earlier the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin has signed the order about installation in the center of Moscow to the end of 2018, the monument to the outstanding designer-the armourer, who died on December 23, 2013 at the age of 94 after a long illness.
Mikhail Kalashnikov, born November 10, 1919 in the Altai, is the author of a system of automatic small arms, which is more than half a century recognized unmatched in the world. He created the machine is used in more than 100 countries and included in the list of outstanding inventions of the twentieth century. A Kalashnikov is present on the flags, coats of arms and banknotes of several countries.
The Kalashnikov was the only one in the country, awarded the title of Hero of Russia and twice the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. His name was called the new enterprise – concern “Kalashnikov”, which under one brand were United by the factory “Izhmash” and Izhevsk mechanical plant.
Gunsmith buried at the Federal military memorial complex in the Moscow suburb of Mytishchi, on the Central Avenue of the national Pantheon, where are buried the persons having special merits before Fatherland.
