The President of Russia Vladimir Putin approved the law on introduction of criminal liability for declination of athletes for doping.

The relevant document, adopted by the state Duma and the Federation Council approved, published on the official portal of legal information.

In the course of work on the draft law made by the legislature, received a government amendment mitigating punishment.

In accordance with the approved law for the encouragement of the athlete to the doping coaches to be punished by the penalty to 300 thousand roubles or in the amount of income over the period to six months. Perhaps the restriction of liberty for a term up to one year.

For a group of persons or if the offence was committed with violence or threat of violence, the penalty is increased to 500 thousand, and the restriction of liberty up to two years.

In the case when the act has caused the death of an athlete by negligence or other grave consequences, perpetrators could face imprisonment for up to three years. In all these cases, the offender may also be deprived of the right to professional activities.

Note that in the October meeting of the Council for development of physical culture and sport, Putin confirmed that the work against doping in the country will be brought to an end.

Thus the first Vice-speaker of the state Duma and the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov called the bill a response to the accusations of the Russian Federation on state support for the use of illegal drugs.
