The Republican party, the candidate of which Donald trump in the result of the elections became the 45th President of the United States, retained control of both houses of Congress – the Senate and the house of representatives.
According to the AP, although the results of the elections to the house of representatives are counted, according to preliminary data, the Republicans gained enough seats to control the lower chamber of Congress – they have 224 seats out of 435, and the victory was enough 218.
Also, the Republican party retained control of the Senate, which is updated in this election a third: elections were held in 34 districts (34 of 100). This means that the supporters of Donald trump have got full control over both houses of Congress and will be subject to both the Federal Executive and legislative power.
Until today, the Republicans controlled the Senate with a slight advantage – 54 seats against 46 seats for Democrats, and in the lower house of Congress they have 247 of the 435 seats.
