Roskomnadzor officials will meet with representatives of first blocked in Russia social networks – LinkedIn. On the eve of the social network reported about the letter to the Department with a proposal for the meeting. On Saturday, the head of the Supervisory Department Alexander Zharov told the TV channel RTthat the Agency is ready to discuss ways of resolving the dispute.

The reason for blocking the social network was the failure of the law on protection of personal data. According to Zharov, the dialogue will discuss the transfer of personal data of users in Russia. The date of the meeting has not been determined.

The official representative of Roscomnadzor Vadim Ampelonskiy added that in the meeting in addition to the staff of the Federal service will be attended by officials from other government agencies: “the Meeting is coordinated with several agencies, since the company is foreign. It and communications Ministry and the foreign Ministry, and other agencies whose names I can’t divulge”.

The basis for inclusion of the website of the social network in the register of infringers of rights of personal data subjects became in effect the decision of the Tagansky court of Moscow, August 4, satisfied the claim of Roscomnadzor, accusing LinkedIn of violating the law “On personal data”. November 10, the Moscow city court found the decision of a lower court legal.

Amendments to the law On personal data protection which require personal data localization in Russia, came into force in September 2015. According to the requirements of law, any Russian or foreign company, focused on work with Russian users, must ensure recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, specification of personal data of Russian citizens using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation.
