In Geneva, Switzerland, on 11 December, the planned trilateral talks on the Syrian settlement, which will be attended by representatives of Russia, USA and UN. Initially the media reported the Russian foreign Ministry later confirmed the information to Reuters the Syrian Ambassador to the UN, Staffan de Mistura.

The Russian foreign Ministry reported that Russia at the meeting will be Deputy foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, reports TASS.

The head of the press service of U.S. state Department John Kirby said that the US in Geneva will be represented by assistant Secretary of state for the Middle East Anne Patterson. “Patterson will take part in this meeting and will discuss with the representatives of Russia and the United Nations progress in the movement to a political transition (in Syria),” he explained. According to Kirby, the negotiations will be affected and the theme of the ceasefire in Syria, reports “Interfax”.

Earlier, the head of the Department of state John Kerry announced the negotiations on Syria in new York, which should take place on December 18. The Kremlin said that next week Vladimir Putin can take Kerry in Moscow. Neither official confirmation nor the date of the visit at the time of this writing is not called.

The visit of Kerry to Moscow is preceded by a possible meeting on Syria in new York on December 18. Nevertheless, Kerry warned that the meeting in new York depends on the success of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, the purpose of which is to unite the Syrian opposition.

The previous round of talks on the Syrian settlement was held in Vienna in mid-November. The participants of the meeting decided that negotiations of the government and the opposition should pass not later than January 1, 2016, and for 18 months in the Republic of an election under the new Constitution.
