The Ministry of sport of the Russian Federation decided to limit the age of local athletes participating in the summer and winter Universiades, 25 years.

This was stated by the Director of the Department of sports of the highest achievements of the Ministry Alexei Morozov.

“It was decided that the University will participate our athletes at the age of 21 years and not over 25, – quotes the official TASS. – Young people are not so much high-level competition, especially because it is our closest reserve.”

Recall that the Universiade is an international student competition in various sports. The name of the tournament comes from the words “University” and “Olympiad”. Every two years conducted summer and winter Universiade.

XXVIII world summer Universiade was held in South Korean city of Gwangju in July last year, the Russian national team it became the second after the hosts. The next will be held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Russians especially memorable home Universiade 2013 in Kazan where the hosts with the participation of nearly two dozen Olympians and world and European Champions have won 155 gold medals. Second place went to students from China who managed to get only 26 medals.
