Russian athletes took third place at the II winter youth Olympic games, which ended in Lillehammer, winning the most medals.
On account of a team of 24 awards in 12 sports seven gold, eight silver and nine bronze. On the first winter youth Games in Innsbruck in 2012 our team had five gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.
Gold medals of the Russian team brought skaters Polina Turska, dancing pair Anastasia capstan/Grigory Smirnov, sporty pair of Ekaterina Borisova/Dmitry Sopot, biathlete Evgeny Rukosuev, Maya skier Yakunin, fristaylistka Lana Prusakova and mixed team in Nordic combined in the composition of Yakunina, Igor Fedotov, Sofya Tikhonova, Maxim Sergeyev and Vitaliy Ivanov.
The championship in the team event on the last day the Americans pulled out because of the victory over Canada in the final of the hockey tournament. This allowed them to catch up with South Korean national team by quantity of gold medals, and the silver young athletes of the USA was significantly ahead of the future hosts of the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
In the end, the U.S. became the first (10-6-0), Koreans – second (10-3-3), Russians – third (7-8-9).
The total number of medals the best the Russians (24), the second – the Germans (22), the third – Norwegians (19).
