The European court of human rights (ECHR) filed the first complaint on the verdict for the repost on the Internet, according to the newspaper “Kommersant”. Chelyabinsk blogger Konstantin Zharinov was convicted in September of 2015 for posting on his page in the social network account banned in Russia organization “Right sector”. The Central district court of Chelyabinsk was sentenced Zharinova to two years of imprisonment conditionally with a trial period in two years. Immediately after the verdict of the blogger amnestied.

According to the investigation, on March 1, 2014 the blogger has posted on his page “Vkontakte” post “Right sector” with the call for the Russians to organize an uprising against local authorities. March 4 Zharinova was issued by the Prosecutor’s warning, then he deleted his post. As noted by the lawyer Irina Khrunova representing Zharinova in the ECHR, the Supreme court banned in Russia “Right sector” only in November 2014, while law enforcement agencies in April of the same year drew her client to criminal liability under the criminal code article 280 (calls for extremist activities).

The complaint in the Strasbourg court Zharinov called his prosecution politically motivated. In fact, there are several reports from the staff of the office of the centre for countering extremism of the Chelyabinsk region, in which it is noted that since 2012 the blogger participates in mass opposition rallies. The complaint included the resolution on the monitoring page Zharinova, rendered on 2 March 2014, and of the “tapping” of his telephone. In addition, according to the lawyer, in the criminal case of its client list included the testimony of two “unknown witnesses”.

As noted in the complaint, despite the Amnesty, the fact of criminal prosecution Konstantin Zharinov considers excessive, as immediately complied with the demand to remove the text.

We will remind, before Zharinova because of the text written in the “address “Right sector”, under criminal liability has got 19-year-old student from Ivanovo Elizaveta Lisitsina. She also did repost the message.

In may 2015 the Lenin district court of Barnaul Altai has sentenced the opposition leader Dmitry Bychkova to three years probation for the repost pictures of the combat cartridge with the comment that it is “the only argument that is ready to hear the power”. The post was placed by the nationalist Maxim Kalinichenko, who became the founder of the group “Russian right sector” social network “Vkontakte”. Kalinichenko received two years and seven months in a penal colony.

In July of last year the Krasnodar Department of the Federal security service opened a criminal case for insulting the President on activist Darya Polyudovathat posted the obscene Ukrainian song performed by Ukrainian fans. Later the case was dismissed.

Movement “Right sector” became famous during the protests in Kiev that ended with regime change in Ukraine. In November 2014, the Supreme court has recognized PS extremist organization and banned its activities in Russia.
