Latvia did not send representatives to military installations in the Pskov region, which previously expressed concerns. As reported by RIA “Novosti”, reported on Sunday, March 12, in the Russian Ministry of defense.

The defense Ministry said that the Latvian soldiers were invited to visit the army aviation brigade in Ostrov, and Pskov airborne division that caused Latvia’s concern. “However, NATO solidarity has not allowed the Latvian side to send its representatives to verify the absence of any real threats from the Russian defense Ministry in the region”, – stated in the press release of the Ministry of defense.

The defense Ministry also commented on the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the Alliance leadership in 2016, at least ten times invited Russian observers to the exercises. According to representatives of the Ministry of defense, they received only one such invitation, to exercise “Anakonda-16″ in Poland.

Russian inspectors checked the area of exercise outside of the invitation, and the Polish side refused to provide information and answer questions, explained in the defense Ministry.

While the defense last year at least 30 times invited NATO representatives to various events, including at the V Moscow conference on international security, international Military games in 2016, the forum “Army 2016″, but also personally observe the actions of Russian troops in the exercises “Caucasus-2016″, said in a press release.
