Yesterday in the Austrian mountains ended the world championship in bobsleigh and skeleton, which have been played six sets of awards.

The Russian team took third place in the team standings with two silver and one bronze medals. The amount mined in the gold tournament were the first Germans (4-2-0), the second – Latvians (2-0-0).

The Russians won medals in the male and female skeleton (Alexander Tretyakov – silver, Elena Nikitina, bronze), and were second in the mixed teams competition (Tretyakov, Nikitin, Alexander Kasyanov/Maxim Mokrousov, Alexander Rodionov/Julia Shockwave).

The total number of awards first – the Germans (6), second – Russians (3), and others – the Latvians, the Swiss and Austrians (2).

Our team repeated its record for number of awards won 2013 world championship in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The next world Cup in bobsleigh and skeleton events will be held in Sochi.

Head coach of Russia’s skeleton Willy Schneider called the team’s performance at the world Cup in 2016, said that Tretyakov and Nikitin could become Champions. Overall coach pleased with how his team is progressing.

But the chief coach of the Russian bobsleigh Pierre Lueders at the end of the season will take a serious upgrade of his team. In his opinion, it is time to exclude once again has not justified hopes some members of the main squad and replace them with young people.
