The government dwarf the European state of San Marino is waiting for a formal apology from Germany, after match of the qualifying round of the world championship 2018. The reason for the political scandal were the statements of Germany’s striker Thomas Mueller and Chairman of the Board of “Bavaria” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, according to RTV.

After the away defeat of the Germans in the national team of San Marino with the score 8:0 Mueller said that such matches against Amateur teams are meaningless and only lead to unnecessary risk of injury. Rummenigge was supported by the forward of “Bavaria” in this issue.

The Secretary of state of sport and tourism of the Republic of San Marino Teodoro Lonfernini urged the German football Association to apologise for these words. He noted that the Germans, although they are world football Champions, not masters of the world.

“San Marino is known throughout the world for its hospitality, we give priority when we have events of this magnitude. The Germans allowed themselves inadmissible statements in our address. I expect an apology from the German football Union”, – quotes the Secretary of state TASS.

The representative of the National Olympic Committee of San Marino Alan Gasperoni expressed the opinion that the history taught nothing of the Germans, because arrogance is not a win. While Gasperoni noted that Muller failed to score a goal, even such a modest team like San Marino.

San Marino is a country enclave in the Apennine Peninsula, surrounded on all sides by the territory of Italy. This is one of the smallest countries in the world: in an area of 61 square kilometres is home to 32 thousand people.
