The scandal around the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky, who is the expert Council of the Higher attestation Commission (VAK) on the history of the recommends to take the degree of doctor of science, is not an excuse for systemic change in education, according to the Kremlin.
“In any case, let’s say, this topic is not subject to any system change. There is a system that functions. There is hardly a single case could be some trigger,” said RBC press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov also commented on the possibility of the resignation of Medina if it would deprive a scientific degree: “I do Not think that some rules written linking the issue. Now I just can’t answer this question”.
The Ministry of education had earlier announced that the decision of the HAC on the work of Medina, the intermediate, and the last word of the Presidium of the HAC. The meeting will take place in two to three weeks, and the Minister Olga Vasilyeva expectsthat the degree of her colleagues will remain with him.
The Medina itself to comment on the decision of the expert Council of VAK did not. His assistant scientific Director of the Russian military historical society Mikhail Myagkov – advised “pay much attention” to the decision of the expert Council of VAK.
Recall, researching a thesis Medinsky instructed the academic Council of the history Department of Moscow state University and at the academic Council of Belgorod state University. The first refused to consider the work of the Minister on the merits, and the second found a claim to the job untenable. The Medina itself has repeatedly said that the claims of his thesis are not scientific, but political.
Medina doctoral dissertation defended in 2011 at the Russian state social University (RSSU). Statement of depriving the Minister of his doctorate filed in April of 2016, historians Vyacheslav Kozlyakov and Konstantin erusalimsky, and expert “Discerneth” Ivan Babitsky. In their opinion, the doctoral dissertation of the Minister “Problems of objectivity in the coverage of Russian history in the second half of the XV-XVII centuries” and unscientific “in places absurd,” and the text “is full of gross mistakes.”
In the official conclusion of the expert Council of VAK it is also said that to confirm his theses, the author often uses this ambiguous source like the chronicle, presenting it as “absolutely reliable”, and also uses the principle of selectivity, focusing on certain sources and ignoring others, “if they contradict his thesis,” writes “Kommersant”.
As the academic Council of the University was dissolved, the question of the safety degree was moved to Ural Federal University. Subsequently, the HAC was requested to examine the thesis of the Minister of the academic Council of the history Department of Moscow state University.
