The people’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Nadezhda Savchenko in an official address to the elected President of the United States Donald Trump urged to maintain and even strengthen sanctions against Russia. A letter in English and Ukrainian Savchenko has published on his page in Facebook.

“I would like to draw Your attention to the problem of international support and protection of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as the United States of America as a state is to protect Western European values in the world and has always supported the Ukrainian people”, – said in the appeal Savchenko to Trump, who won the election on 8 November and will take office after the inauguration on January 20, 2017.

As noted Savchenko in the letter, perhaps in the world there is no other nation that would like the Ukrainians, with great attention watched a course of elections in the United States, as “currently, Ukraine suffers from aggression of the Russian Federation, has lost part of its territory, tens of thousands of soldiers, volunteers and civilians were killed on the battlefield, a large number of Ukrainian hostages illegally held in prison and tortured by the Russian Federation”.

“I appeal to you to maintain and even strengthen sanctions against Russia, because this country understands only force and determination that You have personally and your country as a world leader,” – said the MP. Savchenko also asked trump to strengthen the international, technical and military support to Ukraine.

We will remind, on the eve of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that the U.S. will continue to support Ukraine after the election of President trump.

As for trump, during the election campaign, he proposed to limit U.S. interference in the Affairs of other countries. Commenting on the conflict in Ukraine, the billionaire noted that this problem affects Europe much more than US, and therefore it needs to be addressed first European country.

In July, the broadcast American TV channel ABC during a debate with Vice-President of the USA Joe Biden, trump saidthat by recognizing the Crimea as part of Russia, Washington will be able to enlist Moscow’s help in the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (ISIS, ISIL, is prohibited in Russia).

On the questions about whether he is ready to improve relations with Russia accepting Crimea into Russia, trump said that if Washington will be a good relationship with Moscow, and it will help to get rid of ISIS, “we are talking about huge amounts of money and many lives”. “It will be a positive thing, not negative,” he concluded. Trump also suggested to take into account that “the inhabitants of the Crimea would prefer to be with Russia, but not where they were before.”

In August, trump expressed the view that the possible attempt of the U.S. force to return the Crimea to Ukraine could lead to world war III.
