Tomsk pensioners began to call the local police Pension Fund complaints Scam. Scams by phone are offered to elderly people ahead of time to obtain a one-time payment of five thousand rubles, recently introduced by the government instead of re-indexing in 2016. Then the deceivers are asked to provide card details for money transfer.

The scammers are operating not only in the Tomsk region. In Rostov-on-don, the elderly also began to receive calls from people who claim to be members of the FIU with requests to tell details of their cards to transfer a one-time pension payment in 2016.
In the official group of the Rostov branch of the Pension Fund in the social network “Vkontakte” pensioners are asked to be vigilant and inform the police of cases of fraud. “Members of the FIU do not request a telephone credit card numbers and other personal data for the calculation of pensions and other payments, including lump sum payments in the amount of five thousand rubles,” – warned the pension Fund branch in Rostov region.
Previously, sociologists have found that only 3% of Russians were glad the replacement re-indexing of pensions in 2016 on a one-time payment of five thousand rubles. It was found that almost half of the respondents do not even know that the country’s leadership has gone on these measures.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on 23 August 2016 said that the second indexation of pensions in 2016 will be replaced by a one-time payment of five thousand rubles in January 2017.
