Elected President of the United States Donald trump is considering MITT Romney as one of the candidates for the post of Secretary of state – Minister of foreign Affairs of the country. The Republican nominee, losing Obama the election in 2012, Romney is known for his anti-Russian statements. Then trump erupted with angry comments and even called for revolution and now will lead US personally.
On consideration of candidacy of Romney sources told the broadcaster NBC. According to the channel from some “close to Trump” sources, the former Governor of Massachusetts, Romney needs to meet with the elected President on Sunday to discuss a possible appointment.
Romney was a Republican candidate in the presidential election in 2012 and was defeated in the struggle with Democrat Barack Obama, who led the USA to a second term. During the election race, Romney called Russia “geopolitical enemy for U.S. number one” and criticized Obama for trying to establish closer cooperation with Russia, particularly in matters of nuclear safety.
In recent months, Romney was regularly criticized trump and refused to speak publicly in support of it before the presidential election, reminds TASS. However, on 13 November the US President-elect issued a statement, which said that Romney and other Republicans congratulated him on his victory.
As recalled by Reuters, during one of the campaign rallies trump also called Romney “the Strangler”.
Among the candidates for the post of Secretary of state in the administration of the trump media also called the Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley, former new York mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former speaker of the house of representatives newt Gingrich and former permanent U.S. representative to the United Nations John Bolton.
