The price of vodka will not vary considerably, said Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. According to him, the price of vodka is affected by the presence of the alcohol market of counterfeit and substandard products, but the authorities will make every effort to similar products on the market to avoid.

“This is the most important thing, so vodka will be cheaper, but will not be much more expensive. We will provide consumer with quality product – that is our task, together with the Net”, – TASS quoted Siluanov.

Recall that in late August, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation offered seven rubles to increase the minimum retail price for vodka – up to 197 rubles per half liter. Wholesale price the Ministry of Finance proposed to increase to 177 from 165 rubles, and procurement – up to 180 from 174 rubles.

A month after the Finance Ministry’s proposals to his vision of the situation presented to the Ministry. They said that the minimum retail price of vodka is necessary, conversely, to reduce from 190 to 136 rubles. In addition, the economic development Ministry has proposed to reduce the excise duty on spirits from 500 rubles to 360 rubles.

The Finance Ministry then stated that they see no opportunity to reduce the rates of alcohol excise in the Federal budget deficit: a bottle of vodka can cost 100 rubles, so as soon as the excise duty and VAT in the cost of one bottle of vodka consists of 118 rubles. A reduction in the excise tax will lead to the loss of Federal and regional revenues.

We will remind, the minimum prices for vodka in Russia are established with 2009, because of the need to combat the production of counterfeit alcohol. In February 2015, the minimum retail price of vodka was reduced from 220 to 185 rubles after the speech of Vladimir Putin at the state Council meeting when he voted against raising the price of alcohol, and pointed out that “illegal vodka, all surrogates, spirits of this kind arise from a certain overestimation of prices of legitimate products.”

The last time the minimum price of vodka increased by 5 rubles in June of this year. The experts argued that this decision – political and useless to fight against the shadow production, for which the minimum prices are set, and that vodka at this price there is little on the market.
