The government of Tajikistan on 2 November adopted the resolution on the amendment of article 137 of the Criminal code (CC) of the country, which envisage punishment for insulting the head of state. It is reported by the Tajik service of radio “Liberty”

Ordinance number 427 was signed by the head of the government Emomali Rahmon on October 13. According to the document, accused of a public insult to the President threatens till five years of imprisonment. Also, the amendments provide for criminal liability for insult of the President, committed with the use of Internet, social networks and other media.

64-year-old Emomali Rahmon he manages Tajikistan since 1992. He participated in the presidential elections four times in a row. A few years ago in a referendum the Constitution of Tajikistan was amended, which increased the presidential term from four to seven years. The next presidential elections are scheduled for 2020 and the preparation for it, according to analysts, is already underway, notes the BBC Russian service.

In Tajikistan, President Emomali Rahmon made contact “Janobi Oli”, which translated means “Your Excellency”. In December of last year deputies of the lower chamber of the Tajik Parliament unanimously approved the law “About the founder of the peace and national unity – the Leader of the nation”, officially declared the incumbent President a lifelong leader of the Tajiks.

After that, the generally accepted treatment has officially added the title of “pervoi the Nations”, which translated from Tajik means “the leader (or the leader) of the nation.” Last week, deputies also voted unanimously for the appropriation of President Emomali Rahmon to the status of founder of the independent Tajikistan.

The law guarantees the inviolability of Rahmon after leaving the presidency, as well as the legislation prescribes the right of the incumbent to a life annuity, transportation, housing, insurance and the right to communicate with the nation at any time.

Among other things, the document regulates “order to show respect to the leader of the nation”, and is also responsible for the manifestation of an inappropriate relationship. The deputies then stated that Rahmon proclaimed leader of the nation quite rightly – “for fulfilling the historic mission of the Savior and the great services to the people.”
