The municipal Council of Móstoles, a city included in the province of Madrid, may fine the local Church of the Dormition of the mother of God for the overly loud bell ringing. According to newspaper El Pais, who lives next to the temple people complained about the noise, and the authorities were forced to arrange a test.

The Council sent experts to change the level of noise emanating from the Church bells. It turned out that the old bells Dating from the XII century, making a sound exceeding the limit is 55 decibels by almost 30 points.

“The experiment showed that the noise much above the permissible level,” said Councilman Eduardo Gutierrez. The standard fine levied on a legal entity exceeding the noise level by more than 10 decibels, is 16 thousand euros.

According to representatives of Church leadership, of the penalty notice, the Church has not yet received. Some members of the Council of Móstoles did not support the decision to fine the Church. “These bells are part of the history of our city”, – said the representative of Jesus Pato, inviting the authorities to deal first with night noise on the streets.
