Higher attestation Commission (HAC) withdrew addressed in the dissertation Council at the Ural Federal University (Urfu) consideration of the case on deprivation of a scientific degree of the Minister of culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. This was reported by RIA “Novosti” , the head of VAK Vladimir Filippov.
“The fact that in paragraph 70 of the regulations on the awarding of academic degrees, approved by the government of the Russian Federation, has expired two-month term of the statement in the academic Council,” said Filippov. He added that the review period expired on September 17. The Commission now has to decide what kind of dissertation will be considered a statement on the suspension of a Minister degree.
It is noteworthy that the expiry review, the HAC found just now, despite the fact that the meeting of the dissertation Council of the Ural Federal University on the issue of deprivation Medina degree was to be held in Yekaterinburg on October 4. It did not take place in connection with absence of the official.
Medina informed the Board that is in business trip in Kazakhstan and asked to postpone the trial to a later date. After that, it was reported that according to the regulations, the date of the next meeting should appoint within two months.
Meanwhile, Medina had already appeared in the center of a new scandal. The head of the Ministry of culture in a very rigid form said about skeptics, questioning the story of the 28 Panfilov, which was filmed in the new film directed by Andrei Salope, calling them “fucking scum”. It is noteworthy that the Minister’s position is supported in the Kremlin. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the Minister simply applied their mastery of the Russian language, to defend historical truth.
Medina defended his thesis in 2011 at the Russian state social University (RSSU), but later the dissertation Council of the University was dissolved, so the question about the safety degree was transferred to the walls of the Ural Federal University.
The dissertation was called “Problems of objectivity in the coverage of Russian history in the second half of the XV-XVII centuries”. It is dedicated to the notes of foreign travelers to Russia and became a continuation of a series of popular science books “Myths about Russia”.
According to the applicants, the text of Medina “is full of gross errors that are hard to imagine even in the course work of the student of historical faculty.” In the other two theses Medina activists “Discerneth” found illegal borrowing in significant amounts. However, in the case of doctoral thesis the Minister for the history of such charges none.
Commenting on the claims of activists, Medina earlier saidthat he hoped the quality of their work and the “wisdom of the dissertation Council”. It is also assumed that applicants just “liked” his view is: “Any work is good in that case when it gives a different perspective on a particular issue.”
Minister of Medina graduated from the faculty of international journalism MGIMO in 1992. He defended two doctoral – scientists and history.
