The center-right of France on Sunday in the first round of the primaries to choose a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections. As noted by Reuters, in connection with the unpopularity of the current President, Francois Hollande, the winner will be considered the favorite in the presidential elections in 2017. The main competitor will be, as expected, the head of “natsfronta” marine Le Pen.

Voters for the first time participate in open primaries, right-wing and centrist. In the primaries can vote all the French: it’s enough to pay 2 euros and to sign a paper about adherence to the values of the party “the Republicans”. For the nomination fight three: ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy and former Prime Ministers Alain
Juppe and Francois Fillon.

According to TASS, Sarkozy voted at a polling station in the 16th
district of Paris with his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Juppe is now the mayor of Bordeaux, and voted there. Fillon visited the site in Paris.

Polling stations will be open until 19:00 (21:00 Moscow time). The results will be announced in the evening.

It is expected that the first round did not reveal a clear winner. Judging by the polls before the vote, Juppe and Sarkozy was almost equal chances, and Fillon was behind by 2-3%.

The second round, which will be held between the two candidates who showed the most
good results in the first, held on November 27.

All candidates expressed a willingness to support in the struggle for the post
President the one who will be able to win at the end of the primaries.
