The rights to the wolf Zalivako, which became the mascot of the 2018 world Cup in Russia, a student of the graphic design Department of the Tomsk state University (TSU) Catherine Bocharova for $ 500 bought the international Federation of football associations (FIFA), under whose auspices was held the world Cup.
“I paid $ 500. Right on wolf moved on to FIFA, it was agreed at the stage of sketches” – quoted Bocharova “Interfax”. To the question about why the amount was so small, the artist shrugged.
The mascot was chosen during the voting on the FIFA website, which was attended by over a million people. In his role, in addition to the wolf, also claimed the tiger and the cat. Zabivali wolf in the First channel dubbed the head of the organizing Committee of the 2018 world Cup Vitaly Mutko.
Ekaterina Bocharova said that he had created the character independently.
“I brought sketches to the teachers, but they looked reluctantly, thought it was all hype. But then they began to be proud of me,” she said.
The student also admitted that at the end of training at TSU is planning to do animation. Her dream is to work in the Disney studios.
The world championship will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 in 11 cities of Russia.
