The Russian defense Ministry is considering the possibility of returning the military bases to the countries where they were situated during the Soviet Union. As reported TASS, on Friday, October 7, told reporters in the state Duma, Deputy head of Department Nikolay Pankov.

“We engaged in this work. We see this problem,” – said Pankov, answering the question whether Russian military to return to base in such countries as Vietnam and Cuba. According to RIA “Novosti”, the Deputy Minister stressed that he did not want to drill down on this question. At the same time, he acknowledged that at present the defense Ministry is reconsidering the decisions which have been taken to eliminate bases in those States.

The Kremlin plans of the defense Ministry on military bases in Cuba and Vietnam did not comment. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov readdressed this question in the war Department, restricting the reminder of the changing world situation.

“The international situation is not static, but rather fluid. You can see that the last two years has made at all in international Affairs and international security significant changes,” – said the representative of the Kremlin to journalists. “Naturally, all countries in accordance with its national interests assess these changes and take certain measures in that direction, which I consider it necessary”, – he explained.

In 2014, the question arose about the resumption of the military base in Cuban Lourdes. According to media reports, negotiations on the return of the Russian military in Cuba began against the background of the Ukrainian crisis. Sources of the newspaper “Kommersant” in the summer of the same year reported that Russia and Cuba had allegedly reached an agreement in principle on the return to the use of radar Moscow center. But President Vladimir Putin has denied these reports, saying that Russia has no such plans.

Two years later Russia and Vietnam signed an agreement to establish a joint base for the maintenance of submarines in Cam Ranh Bay, and a year later – the rules of use of Russian warships to this database in a simplified manner. From 2014 in Cam Ranh Bay served by planes Il-78, providing air refueling of the Tu-95MS bombers.

On Friday, the state Duma was considering ratification of the agreement on the indefinite deployment of Russian air group in Syria. The document was signed August 26, 2015 in Damascus, 9 Aug 2016 it introduced the lower house of Parliament, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

At the meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei chepa (a just Russia) has supported the restoration of military bases of Russia in Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa, citing national interests, reports TASS.

In turn, the Deputy head of the faction “Fair Russia” in the Duma Oleg Nilov said that Russian military bases should be returned to Cuba and Vietnam, reports RIA “Novosti”. “If you don’t want to talk to us with diplomatic language, we will fight the threat to the world. This refers primarily to this neo-fascist organization called ISIS (Islamic state, DAISH, banned in Russia. – Прим and to everyone who takes care of them”, – he told reporters on Friday.
