The Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva on Monday sacked the acting rector of the Moscow state pedagogical University (MSPU), Alexei Semenov, reports RIA “Novosti”.
The Ministry of education noted that the issue of election of a new rector will be considered separately. The election must comply with the requirements of Federal law and the Charter of the Moscow state pedagogical University: first rector will choose the scientific Council of the institution, then the candidate confirmed the control agencies.
Semenov himself has previously stated that it will continue working, but “not as a regular teacher or head of Department, but rather as a member of the community.”
According to him, he should review the order and deal with the transfer of cases to the new rector. “If I can be useful in the framework of the Moscow pedagogical state University, I am ready to provide consulting, support, advice and representation,” – said Semyonov.
Latest changes, he said, was completely unexpected, but he sees “some positive”, because now I can spend more time with his family.
About the impending resignation Semenov from the post of the rector of Moscow state pedagogical University became known last week. Sources of “Interfax” was told that it can take place, adirector Department of state policy in the sphere of higher education Ministry of education and science, former Vice-rector of Moscow state pedagogical University and a graduate of the University Aleksey Lubkov.
Semenov was appointed rector of the Moscow state pedagogical University in late August 2013, after a scandal with fake dissertations conveyor. His predecessor Victor Matrosov was dismissed from this position a month before. In addition, 11 people were deprived of the degree of candidate of Sciences and doctor of Sciences.
In July 2014 in mass media there was information about the conflict that arose between Semenov and some teachers of the University. Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation then has promised to check and get to understand the situation.
