The members of the European Parliament on Wednesday, 23 November, adopted a resolution which contained accusations against the Russian authorities that due to the activities of the state media is propaganda, the aim of which is to split the EU.

According to RIA “Novosti”, 691 deputies, participated in voting on a resolution in support of the document voted 304, vs – 179, and 208 have decided to abstain from voting.

In the adopted by the deputies of the document States that the Russian authorities carried out “hostile propaganda” against the European Union. The document notes that the information a threat for the EU represent the RT, Sputnik Agency, Fund “Russian world” and the Agency under the foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation – Russia and its culture.

Putin called the resolution “degradation of democracy”

The resolution notes that such propaganda is part of the “hybrid war” and aimed to “distort the truth, to sow doubt and discord among the countries of the Union, to weaken the strategic unity of the EU and its North American partners, to paralyze the decision-making process, to discredit the institution of the EU and the transatlantic partnership”.

Note that the resolution was taken not only against Russia. Officially the document is called “Strategic communication of the EU as a counter-propaganda of the third parties.” The number of these “third parties” and into Russia. In Moscow has already promised to respond to the actions of the European Parliament. Simonyan: resolution strikes at the reputable media

Sputnik chief editor Margarita Simonyan has responded to the decision of the European Parliament, stating that “the resolution strikes directly at a number of authoritative media, including the news Agency Sputnik, and aimed to end their activities in the EU”.

“Rossotrudnichestvo” accused Brussels of trying to break the relationship of Russia and Europe
