Ex-Brazilian President indicted in a third corruption case, and Luiz inácio Lula da Silva will stand trial, reports Reuters. The former President is also accused of money laundering, trading in influence and participation in a criminal conspiracy, reports TASS with reference to information of the TV channel Globo.

We are talking about the criminal case, which relates to the loan of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht. Lula da Silva, according to the investigation, helped the firm to obtain government loans and to conclude profitable contracts in Angola, and in gratitude the leadership of Odebrecht began to cooperate with the company, which is owned by Taiguara Rodrigues DOS Santos – nephew of the first wife of the former President.

Lula da Silva is an accused in two criminal cases related to corruption in state oil and gas company Petrobras. In September ex-President was charged with corruption and money laundering amounting to more than a million dollars. Investigators came to the conclusion that Lula da Silva and his wife Marisa, Leticia are the true owners of the luxurious three-level apartment located in the resort town of Guarujá (state of são Paulo). This property was allegedly transferred to the policy and members of his family construction company OAS in the framework of the corruption scheme related to Petrobras.

70-year-old Lula da Silva, who was in power from 2003 to 2011, is considered one of the likely candidates for the presidency of the ruling workers ‘ Party in the elections of 2018. He said earlier that has not yet made a final decision.

Reuters reminds that in 2011, when Lula da Silva left the highest office, his approval rating was 83% – more than any other Brazilian President.
