The exhibition “the Romanovs and the grimaldis” at the Tretyakov gallery was opened by Putin and albert II
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Prince of Monaco albert II, who arrived in the Russian capital to take part in the Monaco. The heads of state Thursday, October 6, took part in the opening of the exhibition “the Romanovs and the grimaldis. Three centuries of history” in the Tretyakov gallery.
This exhibition, which will be held from 7 October to 13 November, will be one of the Central events of Days of Monaco in Russia. The exposition dedicated to the history of relations between Russia and Monaco and communications of the Russian Imperial house and the princely house of Grimaldi. The relationship of the dynasties presented in historical documents, letters and photographs, diaries, memorabilia, albums, paintings and personal items, reports RIA “Novosti”. The exhibition is timed to the 10th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Russia and Monaco.
For example, the exhibition presents exhibits focusing on the development of bilateral relations after the Congress of Vienna in 1815. One of the halls devoted to the history of the Cote d’azur and Monaco with members of the Russian Imperial family.
One of the most valuable exhibits is the egg clock made by Carl Faberge firm in 1887 for a gift to Empress Maria Feodorovna. In 1974, Prince Rainier III of Monaco presented it to his wife grace.
