The Finance Ministry is preparing proposals on the introduction of criminal liability of auditors for making a knowingly false conclusion. About it as transfers “Interfax”, said on Monday the head of financial Department of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov at the conference “Contemporary auditing: issues and prospects”.

“We are preparing new legislation that would impose liability not only in the form of fines for unfair work, but also criminal liability for providing false information, which was the wrong decision, resulting in lost money, including the money of investors. I believe that increased responsibility should be carried out including tightening of criminal responsibility”, – said the Minister.

Siluanov also said that the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank are discussing how to supervise auditors. Recently, this function has moved from Rosfinnadzor to the Ministry of Finance and implemented the Federal Treasury.

“There are proposals that we jointly with the Central Bank to implement this authority. Anyway, in the near future we will decide on these competencies,” – said the Minister of Finance.

The accession from 1 January 2017 of the Russian Federation to the international standards on auditing in the Ministry of Finance prepared and will come into effect.

In addition, he said that Russia in 2017 will make a statement on the governing bodies of the EurAsEC draft agreement, “which would be the basis for the work of audit firms in the Eurasian economic space”.
